If you have an interest in caring for animals, you will want to join us at the Mississippi Valley Fair for our Veterinary/ Vet Tech Animal Science Project August 3-6 in the Iowa Building during the fair.

A veterinary intern will help you set and bandage a dog’s leg.  You will learn how to give shots to any animal.  You will practice suturing a wound.  The confident, curious student with the help of an ISU veterinarian will change the position of a calf in the uterus! Live animals will not be utilzed in these lessons. Realistic, state of the art, model stand-ins actually used in the training of veterinarians and vet tech students will be provided by Iowa State University .

You must be a high school student or recent graduate and sign up in advance to participate! The session is free, but admission to the grounds is either by Funcard or by a $10 daily gate pass. (Please let your advisor know if this presents a concern for you.)

Emailing your name, cell # and email address will hold a training space for you for a learning session.  Space per session is limited. A morning and an afternoon session will be held each day, Thursday through Sunday during the fair. For additional information or an application click on the following link:
